So I have been working very hard this holiday season, to come up with traditional treats that are a contribution to my family’s health instead of a detriment. It seems everywhere we go, there are people with the flu or some kind of cold. Well that used to be us…with two active, young boys in school including one who still puts everything in his mouth, we were constantly dealing with illness of some sort. The last few months have been different though, as we have enjoyed excellent health, free of the many illnesses we used to suffer.
We have made many changes to reach this point of health, but for the holidays, I want to ensure my family and friends enjoy delicious food while creating memories to last a lifetime. So my focus has been on revamping recipes; traditional treats with a delicious, healthy twist…whole, natural ingredients that actually taste amazing!
The first of the recipes I will share with you is Christmas cookies. These were a lot of fun to make, and are a fairly simple yet delicious cookie. In fact, they were so well received, my family devoured them before I even had a chance to share them with our friends. Alas, that is one of the great joys of the holidays, indulging in joyous treats.
You can certainly play with the flavors of this recipe as well; add a couple drops of your favorite pure extracts such as mint, cinnamon or orange for a wonderful festive essence.
